Officer Shooting Suspect Commits Suicide

Len Anderson, KSKA – Anchorage

The Anchorage Police Department has announced that the suspect in the shooting of police officer Jean Mills has committed suicide.   As a result of their investigation after officer Mills was shot early yesterday morning, the police began looking for Kenneth Alonzo Santore Robinson, a 24-year old Anchorage resident.

Last night police followed up a tip that Robinson was in an apartment on the 3900 block of Wyoming Drive.  When Robinson came out of the apartment, police ordered him to stop.  Robinson then killed himself with a handgun.

At the press conference today, Police Chief Mews said that leads gained from the rented vehicle were crucial in naming Robinson as the suspected shooter.
